The reason why I choose this as my favourite program is because I like cooking. Back in Singapore then, I had always watched my grandmother as she whipped up Chinese dishes everyday for our lunch and dinner. That explains why I was eagerly awaiting the preview of the first ever Masterchef Junior U.S. Masterchef Junior is a new culinary competition for kids between the ages of 8 and 13 who love to cook and think that they have what it takes to be a winner of Masterchef Junior. It was based on the successful U.K. version and included a younger group of aspiring chefs. Masterchef Junior gives juniors once in a lifetime opportunity to showcase their skills, talent and passion for food thorough a series of interesting challenges and cook-offs. Food giants joining the judging panel are host and award-winning Gordon Ramsay, restauratuer Joe Bastianich and critically-acclaimed Graham Elliot. These culinary giants will coach and cheer the hopefuls teeny participants to cook like a pro and be taught important skills as they progress through the competition. If you have been keeping up with every episode, you would know that the auditions were long over and they have already eliminated half of the contestants, leaving the final six in the competion with each having potential of earning that precious title. However, I have mixed feelings about the final six. But I know that these final six really earned their spaces at this point of the competetion as they are very very good! Who is going to rise to the top; which highly-talented junior is going to be crowned America's first ever Junior Masterchef? Only time would tell and for now, I have no choice but to wait as the finale would be at least another few weeks later...
After a nationwide search, 24 of the best junior home cooks in the country were chosen as they create their best seafood, pasta or dessert dish and present them as part of the audition. Those who have impressed the judges move on to face more heart-stopping challenges, including a fine-dining restaurant take-over. This series was originally under the name of Junior Masterchef. However, Fox later confirmed that its final name would be Masterchef Junior. I am a big fan of Masterchef and have watched all the 4 seasons of Masterchef U.S.A. Ironically, I am not an expert on cooking neither am I good at it. Intially I was skpetical about the capability of these young kids be able to dish out restaurant-quality dishes. However, the skills and talent the kids have shown during the auditions had really blown me away. Furthermore, the challenges that they gave was similar to the standard of the conventional adult version;particularly Gordon Ramsay's legendary beef wellington, thus, that was why I now believe that people should not be judged by their age. As I had watched each episode of Masterchef, I was shocked about how certain elimination challenges turned out. Particularly the most recent episode which involved baking of a three-layered cake. As I just love all of the contestants and I hate to see any of them go. But sadly, this is a competition and reality states that everyone has to go except for the winner. That is what I am going to write about in this report, but I have to talk about the judges before I do that! If I am great at cooking and I had the opportunity to choose which chefs to partner with, they would be Gordon Ramsey and Joe Bastianich as they both have huge egos and there would be a lot of skills that I would be able to pick up from these big guys.
