My favourite contestant is Sarah Lane who happens to be the youngest contestant in this competition and she can cook despite being a mere 9 years of age. Juniors, like her, would tend to support others fellow competitors rather than being competitive, sharp and aggressive. It is time for the big guys to move over and accept the fact that little ones can cook as well. None of the girls were the rise-to-the-top competitors, but she was in the top three for two of the difficult challenges, even winning one of them. Other than having a heart of gold, I was amazed at how aware she was to her surroundings. in one of the episodes, she had dropped her dish onto the floor, upon being alarmed by the searing hot pan. After that, Joe Bastianich told her that it was a common practice for all restaurants including his restaurant, to just pick up the food and use it if the food did not come in contact with the floor. Sarah ended off by reminding him that they were on camera. That is what I like about her, being candid and stragetic, and is what I believe would propel her far into the competition.
As the winner of the last challenge, Alexander, the oldest constestant in the competition, had the advantage of dividing the top ten into groups of two, whether they want it or not. The task for the elimation challenge was to recreate Gordon's signature dish; beef wellington, with mashed potatoes and broccolini. This is my favourite dish as I had tried this recipe at home and it still tasted decent even though my mother and I had made "life-threatening mistakes" when making the pastry. This shows that making this pastry is hard to me and my mother, even though she was proficent at baking. I originally had doubts that these kids would be able recreate a dish served by the top-earning chef in the world. This is also ridiculous as Gordon had once mentioned that even expert chefs would have difficulty creating this dish. However, I have to say that they had done an impressive job and Gordon himself even claimed one of the team's dishes to be absolutely flawless. But, there were also a few teams which had struggled during this challenge, resulting in one of my favourite teams to be eliminated. It was a shame because I know that those two( Jewels and Roen if you have been keeping up) eliminated had the potential to achieve so much in this competiton, if only they have a second chance. Or would they? But I guess that for now, only time would tell...
